First, survey your rainfall. If there has not been 50 mm between October and November you will almost certainly need to water this month. Check soil moisture using probes or physically digging to ascertain your moisture soil depth (see our Watering section)
Traditionally it is suggested to irrigate with with 20 mm every 10 days and a total of 60 mm per month for good distribution – we have watering trials underway that will give us a better idea of the safe range between too dry and over watering. We do know this is VERY IMPORTANT

Chemical weed killers should only be used 3 years after planting.

Weed control can be used on adult plants if you’ve decided to use chemical control and won’t be seeking organic certification. See our Weed Management pages.
